A thought about the Old Testament

I have always been amazed at how many people skip over the Old Testament as if it has nothing to say to their lives. I have been reading much of it as of late and feel that most people can learn a ton from studying our history and relationship with God.
Today I would like to challenge anyone to read about King Solomon and then pray about how that might just relate to our current reality. I pray we read the Old Testament more.

I agree - People have a very distorted view of the Old Testament. I honestly think that part of the problem lies in that we insist on calling it "Old." People think that because it is old, it is unimportant. I know it is a small thing, but I usually refer to is as "The Hebrew Bible" in my bulletins now, or even say that the reading is from "The Torah," or "The Prophets," or "The Gospels" and just leave out the whole testament category.
